The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption is investigating allegations of money laundering against an ASP who discharged duties in Anuradhapura.
To proceed with the investigations, the Commission, on 12.09.2024, took action under Section 53 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 09 of 2023, to freeze two cars (a BMW and a Wagon R) and a lorry possessed by his wife and two government-owned lands the ASP enjoyed in Anuradhapura for a period of 07 days.
On 18.09.2024, Colombo High Court No. 01 Judge Adithya Patabendige ordered to extend the said freezing order for a period of 03 months.
