The Confidential and Intelligence Investigation Unit (CIIU) of the Commission took action to execute the arrest warrant the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court issued against a businessman in Nelumgama, Badulla, who disobeyed the order made to surrender the illegally imported Mitsubishi Jeep to the Commission before 18.09.2024. The order was given in relation to case number B 16054/01/24, filed upon an investigation the CIIU conducted in connection to an information received regarding the illegally imported vehicle, subsequently registered at the Department of Motor Traffic, causing loss of tax money to the government. The CIIU also took action to take the Mitsubishi Jeep into its custody.
