In an ongoing effort to combat bribery and corruption, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Briberies and Corruption, since mid-2023, has spearheaded an initiative aimed at fostering public engagement in reporting such incidents. The campaign strategically placed specially designed stickers in prominent locations frequented by the general public, starting with Galle, Kandy, and Anuradhapura, and concluding with Jaffna in December, specifically targeting the railway station and various towns.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption conducts programmes for school children under the theme, “Let’s Endow a Generation Possessing High Integrity” and two more workshops of this programme were conducted for 100 students and teachers of Aanamaduwa Model College and Anamaduwa Central College, Puttalum and for 100 students and teachers of Royal College, Seevalia Maha Vidyalaya, Vilayaya Central College and Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Polonnaruwa.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has conducted a number of programmes for school children under the theme, “Let’s Endow a Generation Possessing High Integrity”. Moving forward, it conducted several more workshops and covered 250 students and teachers of Dharmadutha Vidyalaya, Vihara Maha Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Sujatha Maha Vidyalaya, Uva Maha Vidyalaya, Dhammananda Maha Vidyalaya, Udayaraja Maha Vidyalaya, Vishaka Balika Maha Vidyalaya and Rahula Maha Vidyalaya, Badulla, 250 students and teachers of Swarnapali Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Walisinghe Harischandra Maha Vidyalaya, Niwanthaka Chethiya Maha Vidyalaya, Mihintale Maha Vidyalaya and Thalawa Maha Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura, and 250 students and teachers of Wayamba Royal College, President Girls’ College, Kotalawala Maha Vidyalaya, Lakdas Vidyalaya nd Nissanka Maha Vidyalaya, Kurunegala.

In a pioneering effort to fortify professional ethics within the nation and raise awareness about the recently enacted Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO) and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption joined forces to conduct a comprehensive two-day prevention program.

An awareness programme was conducted on January 19 th 2024 for 57 Asst. Commissioners newly recruited to the Department of Inland Revenue. The new Anti-Corruption Act and legal provisions on bribery and corruption, integrity in the public service, responsibility and accountability expected from public officers, were covered here using case studies and practical activities. The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption conducted a prevention program for 75 officers of the State Timber Corporation including Deputy Managers, Assistant Managers Regional Managers, Divisional Managers, Area Managers, District forest officers of the Forest Department on 12th January 2024, at the auditorium of the State Timber Corporation, Battaramulla. Resource contribution for the program was given by Mrs. Thushari Dayarathne , Assistant Director General of CIABOC.

A corruption prevention programme was held at the Gampaha Divisional Secretariat on 01st November 2023 for all Grama Niladhari Officers and Samurdhi Development Officers of the division. Resource contribution for the programme was provided by Prevention Officers, Mrs. J. L. A. Udeshika Madhubashini, Mrs. Nipuni Tennakoon and Mrs. Vimukthi Jayasooriya.

A corruption prevention programme was held at the Elpitiya Amugoda Maha Vidyalaya on 05th December for Principals of Elpitiya Education Zone.

A corruption prevention programme was conducted on 4th December 2023 for the academic staff, non-academic staff and teacher trainees of Ruhunu National College of Education. This programme was an extension of the Training of Trainers (TOT) programme conducted in Wattala from 08th to 10th September 2023 targeting National Colleges of Education. Resource contribution for the programme was provided by Mr. Shantha Wickramarachchi (IP), Mrs. Udeshika Jayasekara (Prevention Officer) and Mrs. Rushanthi Dilshani (Prevention Officer). Mr. Theekshana Wickramatilake (Investigation Officer) provided the technical assistance.

A corruption prevention programme was conducted on 30th November 2023 for the academic staff, non-academic staff and teacher trainees of Mahaweli National College of Education. This programme was an extension of the Training of Trainers (TOT) programme conducted in Wattala from 08th to 10th September 2023 targeting National Colleges of Education. Resource contribution for the programme was provided by Mr. Shantha Wickramarachchi (IP), Mrs. Udeshika Jayasekara (Prevention Officer) and Miss. Vimukthi Jayasooriya (Prevention Officer). Mr. Pradeep Amarajeewa (Investigation Officer) provided the technical assistance.

This programme was an extension of the Training of Trainers (TOT) programme conducted in Wattala from 08th to 10th September 2023 targeting National Colleges of Education.
