On 10th February 2025, the Colombo High Court delivered its judgement in relation to Case No. HCB 43/2020 and convicted the accused, a Technical Officer, guilty of the offence of soliciting and accepting Rs. 36,000 as an inducement or reward on two occasions for performing an official act, namely, to attend matters necessary for the contractor to claim the contract fee after completing the task of laying concrete to a road.

Accordingly, the court ordered 56 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 40,000/- for the 08 charges levelled against the accused. Attorney-at-Law, Anusha Sammandapperuma handled the prosecution on behalf of the Commission.
