The Supreme Court Judgement Anoma S. Polwatte Vs The Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption and others (SC/Writ Application No.1/2011) was a matter decided on the basis that directing the Director General to institute of criminal proceedings was a function of the Commission and therefore directive of all three Commissioners must be a prerequisite to file action against the Accused.

An Investigation Officer attached to the Investigations Unit of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption was arrested by the Piliyandala Police on a complaint made in relation to a sexual assault. The suspect was remanded until 12.01.2024 after producing before the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court. Accordingly, the Commission took action to suspend the Officer from the service and has initiated preliminary investigations in relation to the matter.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption conducted a prevention program for 75 officers of the State Timber Corporation including Deputy Managers, Assistant Managers Regional Managers, Divisional Managers, Area Managers, District forest officers of the Forest Department on 12th January 2024, at the auditorium of the State Timber Corporation, Battaramulla. Resource contribution for the program was given by Mrs. Thushari Dayarathne , Assistant Director General of CIABOC.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe appointed the new members to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on 21st December 2023.
A corruption prevention programme was held at the Gampaha Divisional Secretariat on 01st November 2023 for all Grama Niladhari Officers and Samurdhi Development Officers of the division. Resource contribution for the programme was provided by Prevention Officers, Mrs. J. L. A. Udeshika Madhubashini, Mrs. Nipuni Tennakoon and Mrs. Vimukthi Jayasooriya.
A corruption prevention programme was held at the Elpitiya Amugoda Maha Vidyalaya on 05th December for Principals of Elpitiya Education Zone.

The Confidential and Intelligence Investigation Unit of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption conducted lengthy investigations on the vehicle, KE-3845 imported to Sri Lanka without custom clearance and subsequently entered into the Department of Motor Traffic database, causing a loss of over Rs. 2,587,500 to the Government.
The United Nations Convention Against Corruption, adopted in 2003, declared December 09th as International Anti-Corruption Day and this year it was commemorated under the theme, “Let’s unite against Corruption”. The main event of this commemoration was held at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo with the participation of around 500 school students, undergraduates, teachers, parents and government officers.
A corruption prevention programme was conducted on 4th December 2023 for the academic staff, non-academic staff and teacher trainees of Ruhunu National College of Education. This programme was an extension of the Training of Trainers (TOT) programme conducted in Wattala from 08th to 10th September 2023 targeting National Colleges of Education. Resource contribution for the programme was provided by Mr. Shantha Wickramarachchi (IP), Mrs. Udeshika Jayasekara (Prevention Officer) and Mrs. Rushanthi Dilshani (Prevention Officer). Mr. Theekshana Wickramatilake (Investigation Officer) provided the technical assistance.
