A former Police Sergeant, R.M Jayasena attached to the Police Station – Kahawaththa was convicted by the Colombo High Court Judge Mr. Pradeep Hettiarachchi on 23.07.2019 for all four counts of the indictment served by the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The Colombo High Court convicted a Judicial Management Assistant attached to the District/Magistrate Court Puttalam for accepting a bribe of Rs.4500/-.
Accordingly, the High Court Judge Mr. Gihan Kulathunge sentenced the accused for 10 years rigorous imprisonment, a fine of Rs. 10000/- and a penalty of Rs.4500/-. In defaulting one year imprisonment.
The Hon. Judge of the Colombo High Court, Mr. Gihan Kulathunga convicted the former Chairman of Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha, Anil Champika Wijesinghe on 04.07.2019, the first accused of the indictment served by the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. He was convicted for the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th counts of the indictment and imposed 24 years of rigorous imprisonment as he was sentenced to 6 years for each count convicted. Furthermore, a fine of Rs.20, 000/- was imposed as Rs.5,000/- per each count carrying with a default sentence of 1 year rigorous imprisonment. He was further ordered to pay a compensation of Rs.250, 000/- to the complainant carrying with a default sentence of 2 years rigorous imprisonment. Further Hon. High Court Judge ordered 1st Accused to pay a fine of Rs. 400,000/- under section 26 of the Bribery Act.
CIABOC instituted an action in High Court against a labour officer attached to the Mathale District Labour office for soliciting and accepting Rs. 150,000/= in order to prevent from taking legal actions for the non –payment of EPF to the workers of his Garage. The accused was taken into custody in a raid organized by CIABOC.

Ms. Dulani Amarasinghe, predecessor Judge of Magistrate’s Court has sentenced 02 years rigorous imprisonment suspending for 05 year to the former Divisional Secretary of Hingurakgoda on 01.02.2019 during a trial proceeded on an anonymous complaint received by CIABOC.
The Colombo High Court has convicted a Police Sargent attached to the Police Station – Gokarella on all 4 charges of the indictment served by the Bribery Commission against the accused for obtaining a bribe of Rs.5000.
