The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has filed a case under High Court Case No.01/04/2019 on 20.06.2019 in the Permanent Trial-at-Bar against the President’s Chief of Staff, Indiketiya Hewage Kusumdasa Mahanama and the Chairman of State Timber Corporation, Piyadasa Dissanayaka on the charge of soliciting and accepting of Rs.20 million gratification from an Indian National namely Kotagarlahalli Pedappiya Nagaraja to make arrangements of handing over the land and equipment of Kantale Sugar Factory in order to initiate its operations.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has filed a case under bearing the case No. HC/PTB/2/2/2019 in No.2 Three Member High Court against former Minister of Sports, Mahindananda Aluthgamage and former Chairman of the CWE, Nalin Ruwanjeewa under Section 70 of the Bribery Act, on the charge of committing a loss of Rs.53 million to the Government by importing of 14,000 carrom boards and 11, 000 checkers (daam) boards to the CWE against due process and using the items for a purpose not coming under the purview of the ministry.

CIABOC instituted an action in High Court against a labour officer attached to the Mathale District Labour office for soliciting and accepting Rs. 150,000/= in order to prevent from taking legal actions for the non –payment of EPF to the workers of his Garage. The accused was taken into custody in a raid organized by CIABOC.

A pre-discussion with regard to the awareness programme for general public in Jaffna District scheduled to be held on 16th August 2019 was held by Deputy Director General, Mrs. Mayuri Udawela and Assistant Director of Legal, Mrs. Anuradha Siriwardhana with Jaffna District Secretary, Mr. Vedanayagam and all Divisional Secretaries on 01.07.2019 at the District Secretariat – Jaffna.

Raising awareness of public officers on 28.06.2019 at the Auditorium of the North-Central Provincial Council. It was conducted by the CIABOC officers.

A case study test on investigations for the recruitment to the post of Investigation Officer is scheduled to be held on 4th of July 2019 from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. at the Faculty of Post Graduate Studies, Munidasa Kumarathunga Mawatha, Colombo 03 of the University of Colombo in respect of the applicants qualified as per the results of the examination held on 27th October 2018 to recruit suitable persons to the post of Investigation Officer of CIABOC.
