The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have arrested a teacher serves at the Maliyadewa Boys College on an alleged solicitation and accepting a bribe of Rs. 300,000/- on 08.02.2023 in accordance with a complaint received to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have arrested a Police Sergeant serves at the Police Station, Madawachchiya on an alleged solicitation and acceptance of a bribe of Rs. 350,000/- on 31.01.2023 in accordance with a compliant received to CIABOC. The suspect was arrested at the complainant’s house in Madawachchiya, Konakumbukgollawa when accepting the bribe of Rs. 350,000/- for making necessary arrangements to negotiate with the other party and to discharge him from cases pending in the High Court, Anuradhapura regarding an alleged abuse and a rape and to abstain from arresting and presenting him before the court according to the warrants issued with regard to the above cases.

In order to build a prosperous country free from bribery, as one of the programs in the series of awareness programs for divisional secretariat officials, the prevention program to aware the divisional secretariat officials in Eheliyagoda Divisional Secretariat Office in Rathnapura District was held on 16.11.2022 at the Divisional Secretariat Auditorium. About 130 Eheliyagoda Divisional Secretariat officials participated for this prevention program and Miss Eranga Madushi Corruption Prevention Officer of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Mrs. Ishani Wijesooriya Corruption Prevention Officer and Miss Rushanthi Dilshani Corruption Prevention Officer participated as resource persons of this program.

In order to build a prosperous country free from bribery, as one of the programs in the series of awareness programs for divisional secretariat officials, the prevention program to aware the divisional secretariat officials in Kuruvita Divisional Secretariat Office in Rathnapura District was held on 16.11.2022 at the Divisional Secretariat Auditorium. About 110 Kuruvita Divisional Secretariat officials participated for this prevention program and Miss Eranga Madushi Corruption Prevention Officer of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Mrs. Ishani Wijesooriya Corruption Prevention Officer and Miss Rushanthi Dilshani Corruption Prevention Officer participated as the resource persons of this program.

A prevention program regarding bribery and corruption was conducted on 13th September 2022 at Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat Office with the participation of staff members of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Mrs. Diana Kodithuwakku, Assistant Director (Legal), Corruption Prevention Officer Mrs. J.L.A. Udeshika Madhubhashani, and Corruption Prevention Officer Ms. Vimukthi Jayasooriya contributed as resource persons.

A prevention program was held on 25-08-2022 at the Sri Lanka Police Training College, Nikaweratiya to aware 340 Trainee Police Constables on Bribery and Corruption. Assistant Director (Legal) Mr. Gayan Maduwage, Corruption Prevention Officer Mr. Sanjeewa Herath and Corruption Prevention Officer Miss.Nipuni Thennakoon participated as resource persons for this prevention program. Investigation Officer Mr. Pradeep Amarajeewa from Digital Forensic Unit, provided computer technical assistance to make this program success.

A prevention Program held on 20 th August 2022, for 100 Police Officers in Galle District at the Auditorium in Galle District Secretariat Office by Corruption Prevention Officer Mr. Sampath Arachchige, Corruption Prevention Officer Mrs. J.L.A Udeshika Madhubhasani and Corruption Prevention Officer Miss. Eranga Madushi Kumari. They were given the necessary guidance to carry out their duties while eliminating bribery and corruption, along with practical activities.

A prevention program was held on 05-08-2022 at the Sri Lanka Police Training College, Kaluthara to aware 850 Trainee Police Constables on Bribery and Corruption in both Sinhala and Tamil Mediums. Assistant Director General Dushmanthi Rajapaksa, Assistant Director (Legal) Mr. S.M.S. Shabree, Corruption Prevention Officer Ms. N. Wimukthi Jayasooriya, Corruption Prevention Officer Ms. Eranga Madhushi, Corruption Prevention Officer Mr.Sampath Arachchige and typist Mr. H.R.Alamas participated as resource persons for this prevention program.

A prevention program was held on 14-03-2022 at the Sri Lanka Police Training College, Kundasale to aware 147 Newly Recruited Police Constables on Bribery and Corruption. Corruption Prevention Officer Mr.Sanjeewa Herath, Corruption Prevention Officer Miss. N. Wimukthi Jayasooriya participated as resource persons for this prevention program. Director (Investigation), Mr. Nuawan Asanka conducted this prevention program through online platform. Investigation Officers Mr. Pradeep Amarajeewa, Mr. T.H Harsha Madushanka and Mr. Theekshana Subashan wickramathilaka from Digital Forensic Unit, provided computer technical assistance to make this program a success.

A Prevention Program held on June 23 rd 2022, for newly appointed Police Officers at Kallady Police Training College by Assistant Director (Legal) Mr. S.M. Shabri, Corruption Prevention Officer Mr. Shammi Srilal Thotawaththa, Corruption Prevention Officer Mrs. J.L.A Udeshika Madhubhasani, Corruption Prevention Officer Mrs. Ishani Chathurika Wijesooriya, and Management Assistant Mr. Lahiru. They were given the necessary guidance to carry out their duties while eliminating bribery and corruption, along with practical activities.

A prevention program was held on 12-03-2022 at the Sri Lanka Police Training College, Nikaweratiya to aware 60 Police Instructors on Bribery and Corruption. Assistant Director General Mrs. Dushmanthee Rajapaksha, Corruption Prevention Officer Mr. Sanjeewa Herath, Corruption Prevention Officer Miss. N. Wimukthi Jayasooriya, Legal Assistant Mr. Charaka Wickramasinghe, Legal Assistant Mrs. Thilanka Kularathne participated as resource persons for this prevention program. Establishment of a Complaint Box in the Department of Motor Traffic and awareness program for officers of the Department of Motor Traffic under the project ‘Installation of Complaint Boxes in Public Institutions’ launched by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption was held at the Department of Motor Traffic on 18-02-2022. Mrs. Ama Wijesinghe, Assistant Director (Legal) of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Mr. Shilamegha Welithotage, Corruption Prevention Officer, Mrs. Ishani Wijesooriya, Corruption Prevention Officer and Management Services Officer Mr. K. M. Y. S. Lahiru participated for this program.
