CIABOC has Indicted a Legal Assistant and a Technical Officer working in the Ayurvedic Department on 11.07.2019. The said Legal Assistant (1st Accused) alleged for solicitated and accepted Rs. 300,000 from the complaint Walimuni Devalayalage Sena Attygala.
A prevention programme was held at Hatton on 09.07.2019, specially focusing on general public of the area from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. The programme was organized by CaFFE and Deputy Director General Mrs. Mauri Udewela and Assistant Director (Legal) Mrs. Anuradha Siriwardena participated for the programme as resource persons.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has received the third place among 838 institutions under the Government Special Expenditure Unit examined by the Committee on Public Accounts considering the splendid utilization of government funds.
The Hon. Judge of the Colombo High Court, Mr. Gihan Kulathunga convicted the former Chairman of Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha, Anil Champika Wijesinghe on 04.07.2019, the first accused of the indictment served by the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. He was convicted for the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th counts of the indictment and imposed 24 years of rigorous imprisonment as he was sentenced to 6 years for each count convicted. Furthermore, a fine of Rs.20, 000/- was imposed as Rs.5,000/- per each count carrying with a default sentence of 1 year rigorous imprisonment. He was further ordered to pay a compensation of Rs.250, 000/- to the complainant carrying with a default sentence of 2 years rigorous imprisonment. Further Hon. High Court Judge ordered 1st Accused to pay a fine of Rs. 400,000/- under section 26 of the Bribery Act.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has filed a case under High Court Case No.01/04/2019 on 20.06.2019 in the Permanent Trial-at-Bar against the President’s Chief of Staff, Indiketiya Hewage Kusumdasa Mahanama and the Chairman of State Timber Corporation, Piyadasa Dissanayaka on the charge of soliciting and accepting of Rs.20 million gratification from an Indian National namely Kotagarlahalli Pedappiya Nagaraja to make arrangements of handing over the land and equipment of Kantale Sugar Factory in order to initiate its operations.
